Student undergoing fire safety drills
The workshop which was aimed at creating awareness on fire safety and prevention among the students is a long term partnership program between the institute and the Dansoman office of the Ghana National Fire Service.
The students were exposed to topics such as fire safety techniques, smoke detection, fire safety laws, preventive measures, fire causes and extinguishing.
According to the Assistant Division officer of the Dansoman fire station, James Okyere such collaborations in which large number of people get awareness would go a long to improve public education on fire safety.
He said the national fire service has intensified its out reach programs to sensitize people on fire safety. He appealed to residents to adhere to fire safety regulations to avoid fire outbreaks in their homes and work places.
In a remark the Founder and Director of the institute Mrs. Efua Goode-Arthur said the institute uses power in its activities and therefore students should be equipped with fire safety and prevention skills during the course period.
After the program a fire fighting demonstration was held in which some of students were taking through basic approach to fire extinguishing.
